The order panel

A trader’s panel: Buy/Sell and Yes/No, limit or market pricing, time-in-force, and a Review, Submit, Done flow.

The order panel is a trader’s panel, not a consumer checkout: tight fields, clear controls, and full order-type support.

The full trade view: chart, live book, and the order panel doing the math.

The basics

  • Buy / Sell toggle at the top.
  • Yes / No side pills, each showing the current price and size.
  • Order type: Limit (you set the price) or Shares (fill at the best available price now).

Setting a price (Limit)

  • Type a price, or use the arrow buttons: 1¢ per step, 10¢ with Shift.
  • Hold Alt while stepping for sub-cent (0.1¢) moves on markets that support finer pricing. Pro snaps to whatever tick sizes the market actually allows, so you can’t land on an invalid price.
  • AUTO locks the limit price to the current best price and follows the market as it moves. Toggle it off to type your own.

Setting a quantity

  • Type a share count (fractional shares are supported), or click any level in the order book to prefill the price and size.
  • In Sell mode, quantity is capped to what you own on that side, and a sub-label reminds you of your position.

Time in force

Choose how long the order stays working:

  • GTC: good ’til canceled (default).
  • EOD: expires at the end of the New York trading day.
  • IOC: fills immediately against available liquidity, cancels the rest.
  • At event start: for markets tied to a scheduled event (like a game).
  • Custom: pick a date and time (New York time).
  • Quick-expiry chips (e.g. +2m, +5m, +10m) are one-tap shortcuts into a custom expiry. You can edit these in Settings.

Other controls

  • Submit as resting order only (post-only) keeps your order from crossing the spread and filling immediately.
  • 1-tap skips the review step and places the order on a single click, confirming with a toast. Leave it off to review first.

Placing an order

Without 1-tap, the panel steps through Review, Submit, Done: review the details, submit, and see the outcome (queued, partially filled, or filled). The primary button holds the same position across all three steps so you’re never chasing it. Every order shows a short risk disclaimer with a link to Kalshi’s regulatory notices.
